"King Cobra" star comes out as gay

Garrett Clayton

Garret Clayton, who played Brent Corrigan in the movie King Cobra, came out of the closet yesterday.

The 27-year-old star, who started his career for Disney Channel's Teen Beach Movie, was online to write about his new film, Reach. His latest movie is about a suicidal teen who meets a new kid named Clarence who helps change his life.

“When I read the script for REACH, I immediately knew it was a film I had to be a part of. I have personally dealt with suicide within my own family, intense bullying in high school, and -- on top of it all -- myself and the man I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time [screenwriter Blake Knight] have both experienced shootings within our hometown school systems, and have witnessed the heartache that takes place in affected communities after such tragic events."
Clayton added that he hoped the themes of the movie will help others dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts.

We're sure coming out will also be a great help to many of his fans dealing with their own sexuality.
