Dating app Jack'd disses Grindr

Jack'dGay dating app Jack'd doesn't think Grindr is doing enough to combat online bigotry by its own users.

In fact, Jack’d created a video and issued a press release to call out Grindr for doing little to stop racism on its platform.

Jack'd claimed that lines like “no blacks, no Asians" are all too common on the rival's app.

“There is a difference between being attracted to certain characteristics of a man and spewing hate and/or attacking others for their religion or the color of their skin,” argued Alon Rivel, a marketing director at Jack’d. "Whether we like it or not, [Grindr] is the leader in the gay dating app space and they set a tone for the rest of the gay community.”

He said Jack'd had a “zero-tolerance” towards racist ads, and that users are asked to help police the site and report offenders.

Peter Sloterdyk, Grindr’s vice president of marketing, countered that “sexual racism is a larger problem within our community and impacts all dating apps, not just Grindr.”

He added that the app does “prohibit the use of offensive or racist language and encourage our community to report offending profiles through our app’s built-in system.”
