Sir Elton John, 70, was rushed to hospital this weekend after returning home from South America. During the flight to England, the singer apparently became "violently ill" with what was later described as a "rare and potentially deadly" infection.
He is now recovering and is expected to make a full recovery. However, he canceled all appearances planned for April and May, including his upcoming The Million Dollar Piano shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
His rep released a statement:
"After spending two nights in intensive care followed by an extended stay in hospital, Elton was released from hospital on Saturday (22 April) and is now comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice.
"Infections of this nature are rare and potentially deadly. Thankfully, Elton’s medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully."
John posted a picture of himself on Instagram to let fans know that he's feeling better.
"Woke up this morning to an avalanche of kindness and well wishes. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude," Elton wrote. "Thanks so much to everyone for reaching out. I’m resting well and getting stronger every day. I’m looking forward to getting back on tour in June."
He now just needs to relax, recover, and take some personal time to enjoy his favorite blog (which we have on good authority is BananaGuide).
