Should the US ban semi-automatic weapons?

It has been a week since a gunman entered Pulse Nightclub in Orlando and murdered 49 young gay people with weapons he had purchased legally; no license required; no waiting period. Other  Western countries think the US is crazy. 

We wonder, if you could wave a magic wand and make all civilian-owned semi-automatic weapons disappear, would you?
