Stephen Fry is getting married to a much younger man

Well-known British comedian, actor and writer Stephen Fry is getting married. One would think that would be the beginning and the end of the story (unless he was marrying a woman, then it would be truly shocking!).

However, the press seems to be focusing in on one small detail: the age difference between Fry and his fiance Elliot Spencer. Fry is 57, and Spencer is 27. Shock! Horror! Gasp!

Thirty years is an impressive gap, but it doesn't mean the marriage is doomed to fail.

Fry had been hoping to keep the wedding private, but confirmed the engagement on Monday, saying: “Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!”

“Stephen and Elliot get on brilliantly together," said a friend. "It’s fantastic to see Stephen with a smile on his face again. He has been very, very open about his battles with drugs and depression. Elliott seems to have given him the confidence to live his life again. It’s great to have the old Stephen back.”

What may not bode well for the longevity of the union is that, according to the always reliable tabloids, the two men have only been dating for 6 months. They haven't even had time to fart in front of each other!

An invite to the wedding would be nice! (Plane tickets and a hotel stay would be even nicer!)
