Less than 3 percent of the US population identify themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported this week, in the first large-scale government survey measuring Americans’ sexual orientation.
For the first time the National Health Interview Survey included a question on sexual orientation. It found that 1.6 percent of adults self-identify as gay or lesbian, and 0.7 percent consider themselves bisexual.
Previous estimates range from the now outdated guestimate of 10% to more recent surveys that concluded the percentage was between 3.5 - 4 percent.
In this case, anyway, small is beautiful!
