AHF takes condom fight to Florida

CondomsThe California-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has expanded its fight against bareback porn into Florida, asking the state's health officials to crack down on adult films being produced without condoms.

Initially, AHF filed a complaint against San Diego Boy Productions in California, but Cal/OSHA lacked jurisdiction in the case as the productions in question took place in Florida, and were shot by Florida-based D&E Productions.

“The industry is playing a shell game, where they are trying to conceal where they film and how they film,” AHF President Michael Weinstein said.

However, Florida does not have any laws that specifically relate to condom use on porn sets. AHF argued that the condomless scenes violated Florida's "Sanitary Nuisance" statutes, which cover the commission of any act that threatens the health or life of an individual, or directly or indirectly causes disease. Weinstein said it was time Florida started protecting adult film models.

“The bottom line is, two performers have tested positive [for HIV] in the last few weeks [in California],” he said. “There have been multiple scares related to syphilis. There have been thousands of cases of gonorrhea and chlamydia. The porn performers in Florida are equally deserving of protection.”

“The state of Florida, they don’t care,” D&E co-owner David Adamson said. “There’s nothing on the books regarding condom use.”

“We hold high morals and ethics when it comes to condomless productions and the models themselves make the voluntary and final decision. It is never forced upon them and is done in the strictest sobriety," he added. He also said that condoms were used in 99 percent of the company's productions.

Both sides better get ready for a fight!
