Arpad Miklos, dead at age 45

Sadly, porn star Arpad Miklos took his own life this past weekend.

He was found dead in his New York City apartment on Sunday. Writer Randal Lynch confirmed the death and revealed that a suicide note had been found.

"He was a great guy on top of [being a porn star]," Lynch said. "There was a lot more to him than just that surface persona. He was a very active person in the gay community."

But Lynch added that Miklos "wasn't happy, I would say, but he wasn't going into crying fits. I knew he was depressed but I didn't realize the severity of it, because he was not a very talkative person about his own emotions."

Colby Keller said that he, too, has confronted suicidal thoughts in the past.

"While I don't pretend to fully know the rationale behind [Miklos'] decision, I can say that I've struggled myself with depression and suicide. Like any physically-demanding, socially-vexed form of labor, sex work isn't easy work-- not least because of the stigma and meager income. You give a lot of yourself for what can seem like very little in return."

Arpad Miklos will be remembered as a professional who gave his best to porn. But it is sad that he was not able to overcome his depression and find a more fulfilling path in life.
