Fred Willard must have been nostalgic for simpler times, when the only way to see a dirty movie was in a public cinema.
Willard - who is either 72 or 78, depending on which article you read - was arrested at the Tiki Theatre in Los Angeles by undercover officers who were doing a 'random walk-through.' The actor was charged with lewd conduct and released.
As for which movie Fred was watching, there are three flicks in rotation at the theatre: a XXX parody of The Client List, Follow Me 2 and Step Dad No. 2, reported TMZ.
"It's all being straightened out," said Willard. "I have great respect for (the police), there's just a difference of opinion. It's all being straightened out as we speak... It was a strange situation."
The actor may be best known for his roles in the movies This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, and Best in Show. He is currently hosting two shows on television, the PBS series Market Warriors, and the improv filled celebrity interview show Trust Us With Your Life.
However, PBS announced that Willard was being dropped from the show. “Given the unfortunate news reported today, effective immediately, Fred Willard no longer will be involved with the ‘Market Warriors’ series.”
In 1991, comedian Paul Reubens, best known for his character Pee-wee Herman, was arrested in an x-rated cinema.
Hopefully Willard will tell his critics to get a life. He may also want to look up this crazy new invention called the Internet.
