Yesterday, one of the biggest influences on today's technology passed away. Apple's Steve Jobs was 56.
In 1976 he and partner Steve Wozniak gave a huge boost to the popularization of the personal computer with the introduction of the Apple I. From the Mac (and its imitators) to the iPad (and its imitators), to how we purchase music or watch videos, Jobs had a keen eye for what people wanted technology to do.
"He was a great man with incredible achievements and amazing brilliance," said Larry Page, CEO of Google. "He always seemed to be able to say in very few words what you actually should have been thinking before you thought it. His focus on the user experience above all else has always been an inspiration to me."
Everyone from Bill Gates to Steven Spielberg to President Obama have spoken out about Jobs' passing. And in less than 24 hours, Google News listed over 11,477 articles on his death.
Expressing the sentiments of many, Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, said, "Once in a rare while, somebody comes along who doesn't just raise the bar, they create an entirely new standard of measurement."
Rest in Peace, Mr. Jobs.
