Visitors to gay news aggregator Queerty.com were met with the following note today: "After more than five years of serving the LGBT community with news and entertainment, Queerty has come to a close."
Almost a week ago the site mysteriously disappeared, providing only a link to its twitter feed and a promise of being back online once its servers had been fixed. Seems there was more to the story.
"Sadly last week, in a scenario that began with some technical headaches, has ended with [partner 353media] opting not to continue operating the site," site founder David Hauslaib wrote. "It is a decision I was saddened to hear, and I worked to find an amenable solution that would keep Queerty online. That effort was unsuccessful."
He added: "I have watched web properties that I launched come to an [sic] close before, but Queerty’s end is certainly one of the hardest to see."
