Apple drops 'gay cure' app

iphoneWithout any fanfare, Apple seems to have removed the antigay Exodus International iPhone app from the App Store. No official statement has been released.

Truth Wins Out started a petition against the app, which promoted a cure for homosexuality, after it was first introduced a few weeks ago.

In a statement yesterday, the group said: “Apple has been under fire for more than a week now for carrying a ‘gay cure’ app on its platform from Exodus International. But if you try to access the controversial app this evening, this is the message you'll get: ‘The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store.’”

The petition against the app already has over 145,000 supporters. The petition will remain open to new signatures until Apple releases an official statement on the issue.
