Most of us were first introduced to reality star Reichen Lehmkuhl back in 2003 when he appeared with his then partner Chip Arndt on The Amazing Race. He later became known as Lance Bass' boyfriend.
His current stint as one of the gays on Logo's A-List: New York - a Desperate Housewives style show focusing on the trials and tribulations of the queer set in NYC - recently earned Reichen, and his boyfriend Rodiney Santiago, the label of 'vapid queens' courtesy of New York’s gay nightlife guide Next Magazine.
Next editor Dan Avery wrote: “The ‘reality’ show everyone loved to hate probably canceled out 100 ‘It Gets Better’ videos with its cringe-worthy depictions of Reichen, Rodiney and the other vapid queens trying to impress upon viewers why they're important.”
Reichen was livid. He fired off an e-mail to the mag, calling the editor out for bullying.
“I don't appreciate your bullying words," he wrote. "You can save your 'vapid queens' comment for, well, no one. I can't even imagine speaking this way about other human beings. That you would reduce my existence to someone who is a 'vapid queen' says more about what you don't know about me, along with the kind of person you must be. Is this seriously how a 'senior editor' at a magazine talks about people?”
