Now Yahoo hates the 'gay'

YahooWith the desire to stay relevent, Yahoo has launched Yahoo! Clues, a new keyword search and comparison tool. And, as seems to be the way in the tech world, this new development isn't very 'gay' friendly. Nor does it like 'sex,' or 'masturbation.'

The new service was officially launched last Thursday and was designed to “explore interesting patterns in what people are searching for on Yahoo! Search.” Over 5 days later and the new service shows absolutely no results for the word 'gay.'

Instead, one is told that no data is currently available.

Granted, this could be an innocent oversight, as both 'homosexual' and 'transgender' can be searched, except that the company would have specifically chosen a list of words that were banned.

As Violet Blue pointed out in her article on the issue: "But no matter where you stand on gays or sex, filters or no, any search tool that does not offer up a complete data set when queried is useless."

Why aren't the nerds on our side?
