George Michael thankful for cruising arrest

George MichaelWhen pop singer George Michael was arrested for cruising in a public toilet in LA ten years ago, he felt an amazing sense of relief.

He told "Good Morning America" this week that "it was a very eventful and bizarrely dark period for me that I thought was going to go on forever ... It was a huge relief and it took me about a year to admit to myself that I had done it, deliberately.

"The truth is, cruising has gone on for as long as there have been men trying to hide their sexuality."

It was only after the arrest that he finally found the strength, and need, to come out of the closet.

He will discuss this event, and others, in his autobiography for publisher HarperCollins said to be "one of the biggest book deals ever concluded in UK publishing."

What could he possibly write about that we haven't already read?
