Claws come out for GayVN awards

Seems not everyone is convinced that Sirius Radio personalities Derek Hartley and Romaine Patterson are up to the task of hosting the 10th Annual GayVN Awards.

Gay Porn Times reported on some of the backlash Wednesday, highlighting harsh criticism from The Sword. In a blog article entitled "Lady Bunny, Houseplants to Host 2008 GayVNs," Ms. Patterson is referred to as a “steroidal puffin” whose only claim to fame was being Matthew Shepard's best friend.

As for her co-host: "(i)f you neutered and lobotomized Paul Lynde, then married him off to Regis Philbin you’d have Derek Hartley.” Meeee-ow!

“I knew we would be a disappointment after (Kathy) Griffin,” Mr. Hartley fought back through his blog, “and as I could tell from my GayVN appearance last year, porn stars are not early adopters of satellite radio, but I wasn’t quite prepared for how rapidly we would be sent down the river.

"…what [you] said about Matthew Shepard was really below grade. I know you are upset about not getting to host the porn awards (that must be the end of the world), but is it necessary to discount the work someone did on a global scale to combat homophobia? You know, to make the streets safe for a low life piece of shit like you." Meee-ow right back at ya!

Of course, everyone is forgetting that the powerhouse that is Lady Bunny will be the third co-host for the night's festivities. Will her dry wit and ability to tuck be enough to bring peace to the gayborhood? Stay tuned...
