Sechrest de-hosted

What do you get when you put outspoken gay porn promoter Jason Sechrest on stage in West Hollywood with a crew of self-important porn stars? Supposedly a fun and entertaining show. But if you were in the house a couple weeks back what you got was a thunderous storm of juicy gay-porn drama that left Sechrest jobless.

The scene unfolded Aug. 17 at Micky's, a popular gay bar in Los Angeles that hosts a weekly "Cocktails with the Stars" event, emceed by none other than Sechrest. The night's scheduled stars, writes Sechrest in a personal account of the night in his blog, Jason Curious, were Channel 1 exclusive performer Luca DiCorso and exclusive director Doug Jeffries.

According to Sechrest, Jeffries informed him near the start of the show that DiCorso would not be coming. The reason? "I don't know. I just don't think he can make it."

Unsatisfied with Jeffries' answer, Sechrest convinced him to call DiCorso, who was nearby and was allegedly unaware of his appearance that night. He came at Sechrest's urging -- 45 minutes late -- and stayed for just a few minutes. According to Sechrest's own account, three spectators later described DiCorso's behavior on stage as "cracked out."

Near the end of the show, after commenting on Jeffries' latest film, "Delinquents" -- which he says he loved -- Sechrest received a phone call on stage from the one and only Chi Chi LaRue, who told him that he and Channel 1 wanted nothing to do with him because he was "overwhelmingly rude on stage and (made) their boys feel extremely uncomfortable."

Hurt, Sechrest defended himself to LaRue, who he considers a friend, and voluntarily agreed to step down as host of "Cocktails with the Stars" for the remainder of August, which was booked entirely with Channel 1 performers.

Sechrest blames the entire incident on Jeffries' ego, and insisted in his blog that he would only be off stage for two weeks. According to Mark Adams of VidioView, however, Sechrest has been permanently replaced at Micky's, which is marketing a "whole new look and energy" for "Cocktails with the Star," complete with a new host: Scott Boardman, editor of Cybersocket Magazine.

"Jason told me he was sorry he didn't get a chance to say goodbye," Adams writes, "but '… plans are already in the works for a new porn star night at another club that's going to be a much more elaborate spectacle.'"

We have yet to hear the other side of the story, but you can bet this drama is not over.
