The trailer for Harry Styles’ queer romantic drama My Policeman is finally here.
Based on the novel of the same name by Bethan Roberts, the film is about a policeman who gets married to a female schoolteacher in the 1950s despite being gay.
The film also features Emma Corrin as Styles’ wife, as well as Rupert Everett, Patrick Hazlewood, and Linus Roache.
During an interview with Rolling Stone, Styles said the film was “about love and about wasted time to me” and not just “a gay story about these guys being gay."
He also hoped it would show that gay sex can be “tender and loving," explaining "so much of gay sex in film is two guys going at it, and it kind of removes the tenderness from it.
“There will be, I would imagine, some people who watch it who were very much alive during this time when it was illegal to be gay, and [director Michael Grandage] wanted to show that it’s tender and loving and sensitive.”
My Policeman hits theaters in October, and will be streaming on Amazon Prime starting November 4.
