Next Door Ebony is no more

Next Door Studios

If you were planning to check out Next Door Ebony anytime soon, don't; the site no longer exists.

Next Door Studios has quietly redirected the website to their main property, where any reference to it has been removed -- though all of the scenes are still available under the tag of "Black".

Former porn star Diesel Washington opined that the decision was late in coming, tweeting "This is why I retired; the constant hypocrisy and lies and manipulation and power mongering. [It's] ridiculous at this point."

As more brands come out in support of Black Lives Matter, they have been forced to reckon with some of their less than progressive policies. Next Door released the following statement online.

Not everyone was impressed.

"Truly, this incredibly bland statement on increasing diversity in your brand is made even more hollow and ludicrous when you visit your home page," tweeted Dolf Dietrich in reply, pointing out the white models on the site's homepage.

The move begs a number of complex questions about race, sexual tastes and the marketing of porn. Only time will tell if gay porn sites  -- and all media companies -- will lead or follow the rest of society on the long road to inclusivity.
