How much should porn stars get paid?

Armond Rizzo

This week, porn stars have been raising the issue of how much their work is worth.

It all started a few days ago when Armond Rizzo complained that one porn company was paying its tops more than it was paying its bottoms.

Armond specifically called out Blacks on Boys, tweeting: “This has never happened to me but there’s a studio [that] is interested in me and what I found out about them is mind blowing. They pay bottoms way less than tops [and their] excuse [is] the site is more top dominant … If [you're] wondering what site I am talking about it’s @BlacksOnBoys such a shame… lost my respect.”

Joey Mills

Porn star Joey Mills has his own thoughts about what actors should be making; he said less than $1K a scene is not enough.

"As performers can we go ahead and say that no one who is [performing] for a studio should be getting paid any less than 1k a scene," Mills argued on Twitter. "I hear about some of these new model's scene rates and how multiple well known studios are knowingly taken advantage of young performers

“You can try and say this hurts up and coming studios but if you have to take advantage of people and fuck them over to start a studio you shouldn’t be running one,” Joey added. “If you’re a performer making less than 1K this isn’t me coming after you in any way I just want everyone to realize what [you're] worth instead of letting your studio decide for you.”

Micky Taylor

Mickey Taylor pointed out that it was worse in the UK.

"In the U.K. it’s even worse, babe," Taylor shared. "You can get paid anything from £50-300 a scene. Exclusives get about that, too. That’s why we bust our butts to make it in the US and only a few of us do.

"It’s stunned me how many US models don’t know how hard it is in the U.K. for models to make ££. And so few of us make it across the pond or even get recognition. I can count like 7 of us [at the moment].

“That’s precisely why I didn’t take a scene gig!” Topher Drew claimed. “They weren’t willing to pay what I’m worth. If you know your worth and they won’t offer it, you say, ‘Fuck you, no.'”

Everyone should definitely get paid for all their hard work, but as studios fold and companies make smaller profits, paying less for models may sadly become the norm.
