Madonna's new single written as an anthem for Pride

Madonna's "I Rise" was specifically written to honor the LGBT community and its fight for equal rights.

“I wrote ‘I Rise’ as a way of giving a voice to all marginalized people who feel they don’t have the opportunity to speak their mind," she revealed in a press release. "This year is the 50th anniversary of Pride and I hope this song encourages all individuals to be who they are, to speak their minds and to love themselves.”

The release comes at just the right time, as the Queen of Pop is getting the Advocate for Change Award at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York this weekend. The honor is bestowed on those who have had a positive global impact on the lives of LGBTQ people.

"I Rise" is the second single from Madonna's new album, Madame X, which drops on June 14.
