Pornhub interested in buying Tumblr

Pornhub's Vice President, Cory Price, has admitted his company is "extremely interested" in buying Tumblr.

At the end of last year, the micro-blogging site banned all adult content.

“We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves,” Tumblr’s chief executive, Jeff D’Onofrio, said at the time.

“Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content," he added. "We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.”

As with Yahoo! Groups before it, Tumblr's porn ban saw the number of visitors to the site plummet.

"Tumblr was a safe haven for those who wanted to explore and express their sexuality, adult entertainment aficionados included," Price told BuzzFeed News. "We’ve long been dismayed that such measures were taken to eradicate erotic communities on the platform, leaving many individuals without an asylum through which they could comfortably peruse adult content."

Price said the NSFW element of the site would be restored if Pornhub purchased it, giving Tumblr fans a semi-chub in anticipation!
