Taron Egerton proves he has the singing voice to play Elton John

Taron Egerton has already proven that he can look like Elton John, but can he sing like him?

Paramount Pictures released some behind-the-scenes footage from the Elton biopic Rocketman proving the actor has the voice to pull off Elton's classic “Tiny Dancer.”

The film will explore the singer's rise to stardom, from his days at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming one of pop music's biggest hit makers. It will also explore Elton's darker moments, from struggling with his sexuality to substance abuse.

Egerton plays Elton in the movie and will not be lip synching to Elton's early recordings. In fact, he even impressed Elton with his voice.

According to music producer Giles Martin: “Elton said: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron.'”

Rocketman will be released in the UK on May 24, 2019, and in the US on May 31.
