Same-sex kiss upsets some fans of "The Exorcist" series

Yes, even as we near the end of 2017, same-sex kissing on TV still pisses some people off.

In a recent episode of the Fox TV series The Exorcist -- based loosely on the 1973 horror film of the same name -- confirmed that former priest Father Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) is bisexual. His "outing" included a kiss with another man. (Hide the children!)

Some fans were shocked, having assumed the character was actually straight (even though there had been clues in the first season).

Showrunner Jeremy Slater was unsympathetic to those complaining.

“I saw a couple of homophobes on Twitter and my response is, good," he told Sci-Fi Bulletin. “Fuck you. I’m glad you didn’t like it, I’m glad it ruined the show for you. You shouldn’t have good things in your life."

He added: ”If a homophobe can’t watch the show any more because one of the characters is gay, then I’m glad something good has come out of it. “This is 2017 and we still have people throwing temper tantrums online because they don’t want to see gay characters. I think it’s the last gasp of a certain breed of dinosaur that’s on the way out, and let them kick and scream as they go.”

It can't be easy having your show about demonic possession interrupted by a sweet and intimate moment between two men. More Satan; less same-sex snogging?
