Geri Halliwell releases single in honor of George Michael

George Michael and Geri HalliwellFormer Spice Girl Geri Halliwell -- better known as Ginger Spice -- found the sudden death of her friend George Michael very difficult to process.

Michael died unexpectedly on Christmas last year. At the time, Halliwell was pregnant and close to giving birth.

"I didn't know what to do with my feelings," she said. "I was in the middle of writing an album and heavily pregnant. I sat on my bed and wrote the lyrics out, and it occurred to me that I had a very unique relationship with him: from a fan to a friend.

"I'd been procrastinating for the past 12 years to get an album's worth of songs together. This song for George has really pushed me out the door."

"Angels in Chains" is a touching and moving single. And in honor of Michael, Halliwell said all profits from the single will go to the youth-focused charity Childline.
