Orlando shooter's wife pleads not guilty to helping him

Noor SalmanOmar Mateen, the man who gunned down 49 innocent people in Orlando’s gay nightclub Pulse last June, will never truly face justice. He was killed in a shootout with police following the tragic event.

However, police recently arrested his wife, Noor Salman, and charged her with aiding and abetting her husband, as well as obstruction of justice. She pleaded not guilty this week.

In June, she was interviewed by police and denied having any knowledge of her husband's plans.

However, prosecutors are now claiming that Salman helped her husband choose the nightclub over another target, and that she even drove him there to scope the location out. She allegedly was with him when he purchased the weapons and ammo used in the shooting, as well.

Her uncle Al Salman said his niece was “simple and innocent” and was a victim of domestic abuse.

Her trial is scheduled to begin in June. If found guilty, Salman could face life in prison.
