Three people in Cambodia have been arrested for allegedly photoshopping an image of the country’s king into a gay porn scene. The image was then shared on social media.
It is considered improper to insult the Cambodian monarchy, though no actual law exists to prohibit it. Still, authorities said they acted quickly to ensure that King Norodom Sihamoni was not subject to even more insults.
“We have got orders to arrest them. If we don't take action against them, more people might follow their act,” a spokesman for the Cambodian Interior Ministry said. "The king represents the whole nation and they are insulting the king, which is like they are insulting the whole nation.”
Sihamoni, now 63, is an ex-ballet dancer who has never been married and has no children. His sexuality is never discussed, though we wouldn't be surprised if the gay porn used in the pranksters' picture is now Sihamoni's favorite.
