Billy Herrington has died

On Saturday, Billy Herrington's mother took to Facebook to announce that her son was dead.

"It is with a heavy and broken heart that I want to let everyone know, my son Billy Herrington has past [sic] away," she wrote. "I love you son, mom."

Chi Chi LaRue revealed a little more about the death. “[I'm] sad to say, Billy unfortunately died as a result of a terrible terrible car accident,” she said.

A friend initially got Herrington into the biz by secretly sending his pictures into Playgirl magazine for the "Real Men of the Month." He went on to pose for COLT calendars and eventually found work with more hardcore companies (like COLT and All Worlds.) Herington's last film was Ryker's Web in 2003.

He later became popular in Japan, after his image was used in a series of strange video "mash-ups" on a website called Nico Nico Douga.

In 2009, Herrington took a trip to Japan to visit the country that made a national hero out of the American porn star. He was not only treated like a celebrity, but also got to see the posable action figure that was created in his likeness. (That's so much cooler than a GI Joe!)

His last public appearance seems to have taken place in Japan on February 20, 2018.
