The design of Video Box Men is clean and uncluttered. Navigation is very straightforward, with selection boxes for category, studio, series and stars located in the left column. You can easily switch the view of your search results between DVD titles, all scenes, or your favorites.
When you decide on a title to your liking you can stream or download the whole thing or, more likely, a scene or a part of a scene. Clicking on a scene page brings up a series of video capture thumbnails. A very nifty feature of GVB is that you can drag a thumbnail to "Video Starts" and drag another to "Video Ends" thus customizing exactly the clip you want to see. The VBM interface instantly tells you how long your custom-made clip is and how large the file is for low, medium and high resolution downloads.
Because Video Box Men works with many different content providers, the model types and themes run the gamut. You won't find titles from major studios on VBM but there is a selection of over forty smaller and amateur studios to choose from. It's best to spend some time surfing around to see if enough of the models turn your crank to make the site worth joining.
At review time there were 560 full-length DVD titles making up a total of 2700 scenes. There is a new DVD added every other day. And while the amount of content is low compared to Naked Sword, so is the price.
All video is in Windows Media format and can be streamed (pd) or downloaded. There are four video qualities available, the faster being a whopping 3500 kbps playing in very large 720 x 480 window (these are humungous files). There is no DRM licensing on GayVideoBox ; you can keep anything you download for as long as you wish.
When played at top speed the overall technical quality of the videos is very good. But since the video is from so many disparate sources we really can't generalize except to say that the really hot scenes are kind of hit and miss. This is where the GVB rating system comes into play: always click the "Popularity" sort option to get the titles that have been rated tops.
