The decision to clear away bushes from Bristol Downs in England has angered some gay men who fear their recreational sex spot is in jeopardy, calling the plan "potentially discriminating".

The Terrence Higgins Trust, responsible for managing the area, wants to  create a more open space for the benefit of wildlife and visitors. They took part in a three year consultation process in which some Downs users complained about illicit sexual activity.

A meeting of the Bristol Downs Committee was told: "Concerns were expressed by the city council's lesbian, gay and bisexual group that this action was potentially discriminating against gay and bisexual men whose activities on this part of the Downs were objected to by other members of the local community and Downs users."

"The general public are unhappy about people taking part in lewd behavior in public spaces, whether it's between men and women or people of the same sex," argued Head of parks Peter Wilkinson.

Not to raise a stink, but since when does outdoor sex trump everyone's right to enjoy the park? Or are designated "adults only" areas the solution?

Next time your little man isn't cooperating, you may want to reach for some juicy watermelon. Researchers have discovered that the juicy red fruit can affect your body much like Viagra does. 

Watermelons contain an ingredient called citrulline that creates a compound to relax the body's blood vessels. This is similar to what happens when a man takes Viagra, say scientists in Texas. Citrulline reacts with the body's enzymes if consumed in large quantities and changes into arginine, which benefits the heart and the circulatory and immune systems.

"Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it," said Bhimu Patil, a researcher and director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center. "Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as Viagra, but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects."

The down side: all those extra trips to the restroom. (A bonus for anyone into watersports.)

President Bush's Economic Stimulus Plan may be helping in a very unexpected way: According to the Adult Internet Market Research Company (AIMRCo), adult websites have seen an increase in sales since economic stimulus checks went out to taxpayers.

"Many of the sites we surveyed have reported a 20-30 percent growth in membership rates since mid-May when the checks were first sent out," Kirk Mishkin, head research consultant for AIMRCo, said. "Typically the summer is a slow period for this market."

The rebate checks can be as high as $600 (or $1200 for married couples), and were sent out to encourage people to spend, in turn helping boost the sagging economy.

"In a June 15, 2008 survey to our members, thirty two percent of respondents referenced the recent stimulus package as part of their decision to either become a new member, or renew an existing membership," Jillian Fox, spokeswoman for LSGmodels.com, one of the sites reporting figures to AIMRCo, said. "Getting more people to buy porn was probably the last thing Bush had on his mind when he came up with his 'stimulus package,' but we'll take it."

On Wednesday a judge ordered Google to provide every record of every video watched by YouTube users (including login names and IP addresses) to Viacom. Viacom launched a lawsuit in 2007 against Google (which owns YouTube) over copyrighted videos that have appeared on the popular video sharing site.

Viacom hopes to prove that its clips are more popular than any of the user-created videos. At stake: $1 billion in damages and a rather powerful precedent that could affect all video sharing sites, including those that cater to more adult interests like XTube.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation is calling the order a violation of the Video Privacy Protection act and "threatens to expose deeply private information."

Google says the lawsuit lacks merit as it willingly removes any copyrighted content when made aware of it.

Of course Viacom has the right to protect its property, but we find this approach to be just a tad invasive.
