If you could change one thing in the industry what would it be?

Ummm good question. There [are] two things. [One:] I would make it so that none of my scenes were tagged as "interracial" because that automatically taboos them and makes them a "niche" and also gives people an automatic option to left swipe them. I want people to just watch and like if they like and don't if they don't. It's pretty obvious what color my skin is as well as my partners. And until they do the same for Asians, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, etc. (all different races that never get pegged "interracial") ... I don't want to be categorized just because of the color of my skin.

 

And [two:] I would make it so that anyone who signed an exclusive contract would also get health insurance.

 

I see that you are in the new Star Trek parody. Why Micah? Why would you do that to yourself?

First of all, stop being so judgmental. And secondly, I didn't. When I booked that shoot I had no idea it was a parody of Star Trek until I walked on set and they handed me my costume and the script. They tricked me[!].

 

I honestly wasn't too happy about not being told it was a parody because had I been told ahead of time I would've passed on it. But as they say, everything happens for a reason. Obviously I couldn't just bail on the shoot last minute like that because I'm not unprofessional. Sometimes things happen in this industry that come out of left field and you have to just go with the flow and I'm happy I did just that. Obviously I knew that it would be made fun of and given more negative comments than good but in the end it was a lesson on how you can't take yourself or anything in this industry too seriously. You've gotta know how to just laugh at yourself and make the best of the situation.

 

I don't think I've ever done a shoot where I've laughed so much on set. I mean, come on. I had to have sex with Jordan Boss in full Spock makeup (and wig). It was hilarious and it ended up being really chill and fun. Once I got passed the feeling of being misled when I didn't receive all the information (which was 10 minutes at the MOST) it was a really fun shoot and I'm glad I did it. Even if it is just for a laugh at my expense.
