No more porn with your Starbucks

StarbucksIf you fancy an iced caramel machiato and a wank at your local Starbucks, you may soon be out of luck. The popular coffee chain announced this week that it will soon be adding porn-blocking filters to its in-store Wi-Fi systems.

"Once we determine that our customers can access our free Wi-Fi in a way that also doesn't involuntarily block unintended content, we will implement this in our stores," Starbucks revealed to CNN Money. "In the meantime, we reserve the right to stop any behavior that interferes with our customer experience, including what is accessed on our free Wi-Fi."

A similar decision was made earlier this year by McDonald’s, which started filtering porn at the beginning of 2016 (no doubt worried that too many customers were making their own special sauce).

Much of the pressure to make the change came from conservative group Enough Is Enough; the group started pushing both McDonald's and Starbucks to add porn filters back in 2014.

Of course, this wouldn't be an issue if people were a little more discrete about what they were watching in such public spaces. Suggestion: hide your screens and invest in the public masturbator's new best friend: the JerkShirt. OK, maybe that's not the solution. Still, we think it's sad that people will no longer be able to read  news like this at Starbucks.
