Online gaming team can't compete because it's sponsored by porn company

Team YouPorn from the Electronic Sports LeagueThe Electronic Sports League (ESL) -- the biggest video game competition organization in the world -- has dropped a team for being sponsored by YouPorn, the x-rated video streaming site.

ESL said it made the decision to ban Team YouPorn because many of the countries in which its live events take place have anti-porn laws.

"Advertising pornography is not legal in the markets we operate in," the company said in a statement. "The vast majority of partners we're working with have strict 'no drugs, no alcohol, no pornography' rules that we've contractually taken on board."

YouPorn even rebranded the logo to read Team YP. ESL still said no.

“I am disappointed that Team YP’s growth is being stunted by this decision, not to mention the effect that this will have on our roster of players,” Team YP manager Claire Fisher said. “While for some, our participation in esports has been controversial, stopping our players from competing because they are sponsored by us, in spite of Team YP operating as a completely SFW [safe for work] brand, clearly separated from any adult content, seems unfair to say the least.”

If the fear is "offending" countries in which gaming takes place, does this mean no gay teams are allowed to enter? Besides, everyone knows that when gamers aren't playing World of Warcraft, they're pirating porn.
