Big gay spoiler for "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2"

My Big Fat Greek Wedding was a surprise hit back in 2002. The movie was written by and starred Nia Vardalos, and followed the trials and tribulations of a single Greek woman falling in love and being pressured to settle down by her very large family.

On March 25th, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is coming out; the sequel will focus on Vardalos' on-camera daughter's trip down the aisle.

But this time there will also be a homo twist. Joey Fatone’s character Angelo returns in the sequel ... and this time he’s gay!

The former 'NSYNC member says his character's sexuality is treated "with a shrug and a smile."

"Our gay and lesbian brethren and sisters are 10 per cent, if not more, of the population," Fatone said. "When my cousins came out, the love that came at them was so intense and unconditional that I thought, 'This is my chance to put a little message in of acceptance.'"

He said that he was touched to find out that he was given such an important, if small, moment in the movie.

"It was quite an honor for Nia to give me something like that, because not many people see the non-comedy side of me and to have to deliver something like that – telling your parents you are gay – it’s a tough thing. It was an exciting thing to do and it’s from life experience – one of my best friends, him coming out."

Will the sequel live up to the original? Probably not. But if we miss it in the theaters we definitely catch it when it comes out on Netflix.
