Are "Star Wars" leads on their way to gay?

Star Wars gayRumors have started to spread across the Internet that Star Wars: The Force Awakens may be the first movie in the sci-fi franchise to include a couple of gay characters. Even better: the two men may be developing feelings for one another.

True, Star Wars has the endearingly queer couple of C3PO and R2D2, but robots don't really count. (Sorry to all our robot readers out there!)

According to some fans, lead characters Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) are well on their way to becoming lovers.

Now, if you have seen the movie you are probably having a "WTF" moment. In the film, Finn is very interested in female lead Rey. He even risks his life to save her. And unless we're about to find out they are actually brother and sister (like Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker), it seems that we're about to see a wonderful interracial love affair, not a gay one.

But some gay fans are hopeful. The arguments for a gay storyline, though weak, are:
  1. Poe chose the name Finn for his new buddy;
  2. Poe and Finn hug after they find out that they're both okay, even though they hardly know each other;
  3. They seem very, very happy when they spot one another;
  4. Poe tells Finn to keep his jacket, cause “it suits you.”

Oh, and there is that hardcore blowjob scene ...

Alas, the rumors are obviously nothing more than grasping at straws. Still, we do agree that Finn and Poe would make an adorable couple!
