Russia might sue Apple over gay emojis

Russian officials are considering suing Apple for violating the country's "gay propaganda" law because of same-sex couple emojis.

Leaders in Russia’s Kirov region made the decision in response to attorney Yaroslav Mikhailov's complaint that the company was using the emojis to promote same-sex relationships to children.

"The police concluded that my complaint was justified, and opened a case on an administrative offense," he said.

Apple could be fined up to 1 million rubles ($15,000) for violating the law, and could be blocked from any business activity in the country for up to three months.

Russia: desperate to become the world's stupidest nation.
