Sir John Gielgud's secret gay porn script

Sir John Gielgud was one of the great actors of modern times, but did you know he wrote a gay porn script?

The story is that, in the 1960's, the necessarily closeted Gielgud was a huge fan of the short erotic films of Peter De Rome, who was recently the subject of the documentary, Peter de Rome, the Grandfather of Gay Porn

According to the producer of the documentary, David McGillivray, Gielgud "was so impressed with Peter’s work – which of course was porn – that he wrote Peter a screenplay. Nobody knows anything about this script, it’s not in the John Gielgud letters, it’s not mentioned in the biographies, it’s an unknown script."

Gielgud had a thing for pants; he loved corduroy and leather, according to McGillivray, so he wrote Trouser Bar, a film set in a menswear shop. Kristen Bjorn is supposed to be directing.

Gielgud never officially came out of the closet, though he was busted for cruising a London public toilet in 1953. He never wrote any other scripts, so it will be most interesting to see how Trouser Bar turns out - if it actually sees the light of day.
