No gay sex club in Gloucester city

Fearing it would turn Gloucester city into the next 'Sodom and Gomorrah,' a local council in England said no to a private sex club. A development company, Mystique, had planned to change the New County Hotel into a daytime restaurant and nighttime sex club. (We're curious to know what they were planning for the secret sauce!)

The planning application read: "The private members' club would comprise an exclusive venue for people with alternative sexual lifestyles such as gay men and women, bisexual men and women, transvestites, cross-dressers, cross-genders, variables and swingers."

Susan Johnson was one of the leading crusaders against the club. “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing," she argued against the plan. She then fell into the same old, tired argument: ”I’m not homophobic, but I can love people and hate their activities. I can still hate the homosexual act. And I certainly hate adultery.”

Someone hasn't gotten any in a very long time!

The final vote against the club was quite close, winning by a  6-5 majority.
