PitBull says no to Blatino Awards nom

Pitbull ProductionsNormally when a company gets nominated for an award it takes the opportunity to pat itself on the back and send out positive press releases. Pitbull Productions, however, has asked that its recent 2009 Blatino Awards nominations be dropped.

Pitbull was up for two awards: Best Studio and Best Latin DVD for "Thugz Paradise Rio."

In a statement, the studio demanded Flava Works CEO Phillip Bleicher "remove any mention of Pitbull Productions and its movies within 24 hours from the Blatino Awards website."

"Pitbull has a long history of litigation against Phillip Bleicher," Pitbull Vice President Bruce Fleming pointed out. "Furthermore, Pitbull does not endorse the types of movies included in the nominations, nor does it wish to have anything to do with any award show that Mr. Bleicher is involved with."

Fleming did not specify what he meant by the "types of movies" he is against, but there are a number of bareback titles up for nomination.

"Pitbull Productions may decline to participate in the Blatino Awards, but their fans nominated them, not Flava Works," Bleicher countered. "Members of the public cast their votes online to determine the finalists."

Of course, this is good news for the other nominees who just saw their chances of winning an award improve.
