Unlike its tour, Spunktoons’ subscription area is very crisply designed. Recent updates are highlighted at the top of the member’s homepage, and other material is accessed through twenty clearly labeled and easy-to-navigate content icons on that page. Each of these icons (which have self-descriptive titles like comix, hunk hentai and shemale) is also tagged with information about the category’s update schedule.

Spunktoons’ plentiful image collections are sorted into galleries of ten to twenty cartoons each. Clicking on a gallery thumbnail opens the picture on a new page. From there, directional arrows allow viewers to scroll back and forth through the gallery or return to the thumbnail index. The site’s video layout is similarly simple and easy to navigate.

The Men / Image Content

With Spunktoons, it may be more accurate to call this section "The Characters" rather than "The Men." In fact, a discussion of the various styles of cartooning on the site reveals more about its content than a listing of the man types (stud, twink, etc.) represented in those styles.

Most of art on Spunktoons’ is drawn in a hard-edged, sharply shadowed graphic style derived from a branch of Japanese anime called hentai. In Japan, that word can mean “metamorphosis” or “abnormality,” and in fact many of the characters represented on Spunktoons are notable for their transitional (shemales) or exaggerated (monstrously big-cocked men) physical features. In addition to these unique attributes, most of the characters have the big eyes, hairless bodies and chiseled physiques familiar to anime fans gay and straight alike.

In general, the site’s henai is very well drawn. When the toons are presented in narrative forms such as videos or serial images, the action is tightly orchestrated and nicely paced. Among Spunktoons’ videos, the moody hardcore series “Samurai Fantasy” is notable for its combination of artistry and sexual intensity.

Video Details
