A lot has changed on the Colt Studio site in the last year. Along with a fresh, updated design, the site now provides members with almost five times more video. You'll find titles from the Colt, Olympus, and Buckshot video lines.

The COLT legend goes back to 1967, when a New York illustrator by the name of Rip Colt established the studio as a way to promote his drawings of cowboys, leathermen, bodybuilders and other icons of masculinity.

The masculine male remains the subject of Colt Studio today, but video and photos are the media of choice. Just to keep things fresh, the reinvigorated Buckshot video line mixes the classic muscle hunks with younger, slimmer guys, including some downright twinks. Changing with the times while maintaining it's iconic reputation, Colt remains one of the premier studios in all of gay porn.


The Colt tour is mirror style. Click on the Main page buttons for "Men" or "Live", or "Movies", and you'll be taken to the complete indexes, allowing you to see the listing of all models and movies available with your membership. In the "Movies" area, you'll see a "soft trailer" for each video. There are no sample images for you to preview.


The masculine looking red, white and black design of the homepage is a straightforward presentation of the site's content. Links for all the major content areas are in bold letters, right in the center of the page. Navigation within each of the content areas is simple: there are large buttons for recent updates, and content by brand. Look also for the smaller red lettering of "View all men" and "View all movies".


In the past Colt Studio featured exclusively heroic, muscular men. These were large-bodied guys with impassive expressions who fit a very particular image that was a Colt trademark. These days, along with the classic Colt men you'll find a range of types, still favoring masculine guys and situations, but including average-sized and even younger models. These broader types allow Colt more flexibility and creativity in what they bring to the viewer.

Since our last review, Colt has greatly increased the amount of video it makes available to members. Membership now includes 250 scenes from 50 of the studio's famous full-length videos -- a mix of older and more recent titles. These scenes average 20 minutes in length.

The Live Men section of COLT is the only truly exclusive part of the site. There are live sex shows several times a week featuring some of the hottest current models on the Colt team. At review time, only a half dozen of the live shows were archived. Colt could definitely do better here by offering a more extensive archive viewable in a larger window.

The video is in Flash format and it streams only (so no downloads), playing in a generous-sized 460X350 window. A few times we did experience pauses in the playback: time to pump up the bandwidth, Colt!

COLT videos all share top notch production standards: beautiful lighting, multiple poses and camera angles, lingering close-ups and gushing cumshots. Some of the earliest titles were shot on real film -- if anyone remembers what that is. They have a rich quality that's not seen in gay porn very much anymore. To this day it's hard to find more beautifully produced gay porn.

The "Colt Men" area gives you access to photosets of over 300 Colt men along with their stats and Colt videography. There aren't a lot of pics in each set, but they are high quality and there is a neat photo resizer so you can zoom in on your favorite body part (wonder what that is!) The photosets are accessible by any number of points: choose the most recent updates, search by a model name, or use the Advanced Search feature to get really specific.

The COLT Studio Store offers COLT photosets, publications and videos, along with clothing, watches and other branded items. There's also a blog and forum to keep you posted on the latest Colt goings-on.


For the monthly Colt membership what you're really getting is a chance to buy into the Colt legend, while also tapping into many recent titles from both Colt and the Buckshot lines. Nobody in the gay porn world today presents muscular hunks with the same fanfare and reverence. The greatly increased amount of content represents excellent value.
