The Pope needs a hug! He's dealing with yet another scandal and this time it includes gays, drugs and
sex. (It's a trifecta of sin!)
Vatican police raided an apartment at the former palace of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (or Holy Office) last month, which is located near Vatican City. The apartment belonged to a priest who was also the secretary to Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, a personal adviser to the Pope. (We assume the unnamed priest has recently been given a major demotion.)
According to the local paper Il Fatto Quotidiano
, neighbors complained to authorities about strange people seen entering the residence. Police arrived and found an orgy taking place.
No other details about the sex party have been released.
Il Fatto Quotidiano said that Pope Francis was not impressed and is considering asking Coccopalmerio to retire.
The incident's timing couldn't be worse, Last month news surfaced that Cardinal George Pell, who the Pope appointed to clean up the Vatican's finances, was taking a sudden leave of absence to defend himself against sex abuse charges in Australia.
And in March, reports of misbehavior
among Vatican priests surfaced with unsubstantiated claims of orgies, prostitution and porn.
"Resistance to the Pope is growing," a Vatican source told The Australian. "We have seen five troubling stories emerge in a matter of a few days. They have created turbulence. There’s not going to be a schism, but the Pope has lost credibility in the eyes of many."
We think the Pope was just upset he hadn't been invited.
