Colton Haynes says he was forced to be "straight" in Hollywood

Colton Haynes is only 28 years old, but even a young guy like him was expected to keep his homosexuality a secret if he wanted to make it in Hollywood.

He came out publicly last year, but before that he was told by his own management team that he needed to pretend to be straight.

“I was literally told from the day that I moved to Los Angeles that I could not be gay because I wouldn’t work,” Haynes revealed during an interview with Andy Cohen. “Then I was with my management team and team of people that just literally told me I couldn’t be this way.”

In fact, it wasn't enough to stay in the closet, but Haynes was expected to date women.

“They tried to set me up with girls," he revealed. "I was rumoured to date Lauren Conrad for six months because they were kind of angling a story.”

Luckily, those days are behind him. He's even engaged and, rumor has it, hoping to start a family in the near future.

And his career doesn't seem to have suffered much; he has three films coming out in 2017, and is currently filming another one for 2018.
