Erasure is back with its 17th studio album

ErasureEnglish synthpop duo Erasure is back. Openly gay Andy Bell and openly straight Vince Clarke joined forces in 1985 and have been making beautiful music together ever since.

In the UK, the duo has had 24 consecutive Top 40 hits. And in the US Erasure landed in the Top 20 with three singles ("A Little Respect", "Chains of Love", and "Always").

In February, Erasure announced that its seventeenth studio album will be entitled World Be Gone and will come out on May 19, 2017. There are plans for a European tour to promote it in the summer, but no word on whether the duo will add any concerts in North America.

A press release explained that the new album would be reflective and hopeful while "giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination."

“Obviously the current political climate lends itself to lots of ideas,” Bell added, “I think there’s an under swell of opinion, and people are slowly waking up. I’m hoping that people will take the album in a positive way, that they’ll use it as optimistic rabble-rousing music."

Check out the official Matt Pop Remix of the album's debut single, "Love You To The Sky."
