Along with its endless collection of porn videos, NakedSword has added the Chuck Holmes documentary, Seed Money, to its library for the month of February.

 

Seed Money is the story of Holmes, the founder of what was once the biggest porn producer, Falcon Studios. In many ways Holmes' Falcon Studios shaped gay identity for many while he became a major contributor, donating millions, to gay advocacy groups like the Human Rights Campaign. The film follows Holmes’s life, from the founding of the gay porn industry in the early 70s, to his indelible impact on gay culture.

 

The film features adult industry luminaries including Steven Scarborough, John Rutherford, Chi Chi LaRue, Terry LeGrand, Phil St. John, and David Forest. Adult stars Jeff Stryker, Jim Bentley and Tom Chase also make appearances, as does director and actor John Waters. 

 

Although the documentary never received a major release, it was screened at fifty film festivals worldwide. It was named one of the 10 Best LGBT Docs of 2015 by both Out Magazine and the Advocate, and has been featured in the LA Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Village Voice and Film International.
