"Queer Eye" getting rebooted for Netflix

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

Those cool cats from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy are coming back! (Well, sort of ... )

The former Bravo TV hit series is moving to Netflix, and will be “reimagined” for the current generation.

According to the show's mission statement: “In a time when America stands divided and the future seems uncertain, a team of five brave men will try to bring us closer together with laughter, heart, and just the right amount of moisturizer. The Emmy Award-winning Queer Eye is back and ready to Make America Fabulous Again."

Sadly, the original Fab Five -- Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Carson Kressley and Jai Rodriguez -- will be replaced by some new blood (though there is always the possibility of a cameo or two).

"With a new Fab Five and the show’s toughest missions to date, Queer Eye moves from the Big Apple to turn the Red States pink — one makeover at a time," explained producers.

The original series was not only a hit; it also brought more queer voices to a mainstream audience.

“Queer Eye impacted LGBT representation on TV in that it was the strongest, if not the first, representation of LGBT people bringing their special talents to the table and making a positive impact in straight people’s lives,” Logo executive Marc Leonard said in 2013. “We saw these strong, colorful personalities embraced for their unique abilities. This is a markedly different take compared to most prior representations of gays on TV that featured LGBT people living solely in isolated gay worlds.”

There is currently no release date for the series, but eight initial episodes have been ordered from the show’s original series creator David Collins from Scout Productions.

Where are they now?

If you've been missing the original Fab Five, here's where you can find them.

Ted Allen
Ted Allen (the food guy): The food and wine connoisseur can now be found on The Food Network, hosting shows like Food Detectives and Chopped.

Kyan Douglas
Kyan Douglas (the grooming guy): The stylist hasn't done much recently, though hosted Ten Years Younger on TLC back in 2009. He has also expressed an interest in creating a yoga retreat and pursuing acting.

Thom Felicia
Thom Filicia (the interior designer): This famous decorator is founder and principal of New York City-based design firm, Thom Filicia, Inc. His latest project: the opening of his first to-the-trade showroom, Sedgwick & Brattle, in the New York Design Center, which features  products from the Thom Filicia Home Collection, a curated collection of items from around the country, as well as one-of-a-kind vintage and antique pieces.

Carson Kressley
Carson Kressley (the style guy): The fashionista has done the most with the fame Queer Eye gave him. He's appeared on everything from RuPaul's Drag Race to How to Look Good Naked. He was even a contestant on season 13 of Dancing with the Stars, and is currently competing in the latest season of Celebrity Apprentice.

Jai Rodriguez
Jai Rodriguez (the other guy): The born performer didn't seem to have the most to offer the straight guys in the show, often helping them work on confidence. He is still pursuing his career as an actor, and did land a major role in the short lived Malibu Country with Reba McIntire.
