Larry Steinbachek, Bronski Beat founder, dead at 56

Bronski Beat

Larry Steinbachek (pictured, center), one of the original members of Bronski Beat, has died.

The keyboardist, who helped form the band with Jimmy Somerville and Steve Bronski in 1983, was 56. He actually died in December after battling cancer, but his passing was only just reported to the media.

Bronski Beat was probably best known for its single "Small Town Boy," about a young man who is kicked out of his house for being gay. In fact, the three members of the group were gay and most of their songs celebrated that fact.

RIP.
